Plan B

Plan B is one artist who has things on lock both on road and in the charts. Signed to 679 alongside The Streets this acoustic storyteller is able to mix original riffs and beats with totally unique content, affording him an edge over all of his peers.  Plan B transcends the urban / indie divide effortlessly with several top 20 hits already under his belt, award winning videos (no good), appearances at live shows across the globe such as SXSW in the US and a sold out UK tour.  Ever expansive, Plan B is now making moves in the acting world, having been cast in a leading role in Adulthood and alongside Michael Caine in a forthcoming 2009 major release. With a new album set to be released this summer, if past success is anything to go by, 2009 will simply re-affirm that people step up and recognize that it is time for Plan B.

Wretch 32

Deriving from Tottenham’s Tiverton estate, Wretch32 has emerged from the infamous Combination Camp to become one of the grime/crossover scenes number one players. His unerring work ethic has seen him feature on The Streets ‘Pranging Out’ remix, maintain constant rotation with 1xtra’s Semtex and Cameo and release hugely successful mixtapes including the legendary ‘Learn from my Mixtape’.  Wretch has been a busy man with his Wretchrospective album hitting the streets in late 2008 and already with a host of new material rolling out in 2009, he is now rated as one of the UK urban scenes brightest lights. Rolling with Scorcher and Ghetto, as part of The Movement there are no bases that Wretch doesn’t have covered, with his skill and drive set to continue to stamp authority all over the game.

Pyrelli

Having torn up the script with his fire collaboration on Sways  ‘Up Your Speed’ 23 yr old Pyrelli ‘Tha Instigator’ is hands down one of the most original and dynamic MC’s at the forefront of the British urban music explosion. Representing for both the heads and commercial listeners, he released his album ‘Vitamin A: A Twist of Fate’ in late 2007 to critical acclaim and sell out live shows. With several singles and videos released from the album over the course of 2008 and with a plethora of mixtape features and collaborations in the pipeline for 2009 it’ll take a brave man to bet against Pyrelli dominating the airwaves and music channels for the rest of the year.

J2K

The true originator of the mixtape with his ‘Heat on the Street’ volumes from 2003/4, J2K is one of those MC’s who transcends the grime and hip hop scenes purely on talent alone. J was catapulted onto the tip of everyone’s tongues back in 2005 following collaborations with Crazy Titch as the Alliance and Shystie on the ‘One Wish’ remix, and after a short sabbatical he entered 2008 on fire. Having locked down the whole download scene, with mixtape after mixtape in 2007, he released his reintroduction CD ‘Who Am I’ featuring The Mitchell Brothers and Baby Blue in 2008. He then proceeded to lay down the heat with Roll Deep for 2009, as well as piece together his own solo project with single and video releases scheduled for Spring and Summer releases.
