Newcastle's Finest - Capology Store Launch

This weekend saw us invited to the inaugural industry opening of the brand new Capology store in Newcastle. Taking place on the Friday evening, I jumped on the 17.30 train out of London’s Kings Cross and settled in for 3hrs of trying to make the shit wifi work, listening to suited city boys spouting clichéd drivel into their mobiles (I actually heard the line ‘listen, do you think we have two many chiefs on this project’ – bellend) and then drowning it out with some Iron Maiden.

I arrived at Newcastle to be greeted by rain and loads of girls who might as well have not been wearing anything apart from the make up trowled on their faces. I was to later learn that this is par for the course (disclaimer: not all the girls are like this and the ones I was introduced to were very nice.) Located on the famous cobbled streets of Highbridge a short walk from the station, Capology takes in two floors, with a 3rd and 4th housing on site offices, storage and a photo studio.

The fit of the store is nothing short of astounding. Utilizing a stripped back almost industrial feel throughout, the fixtures and fittings are comprised of raw copper piping and reclaimed timber boards set against a backdrop of bare brickwork, ambient light and some of the best headwear and streetwear product mix in any independent in the country.

Brands range from the Scandinavian RVLT, CLSC straight out of the SSUR camp, Serge De Nimes and the new King Apparel SS14 collection as well as quite possibly the biggest selection of streetwear and sports licensed headwear styles to be found in any store throughout the UK.

The team of Olly, John and Greg and the Capology staff have really pulled out all of the stops with this one and even have another ace up their sleeve with Sneakology…watch this space.

With in an house DJ, free booze (obviously) and the boys from AONO providing free hair cuts in the concept barbershop space located on the 2nd floor, the night was a great success. The party moved from the store to the BarLivello night club but unfortunately I didn’t get to see the infamous Geordie Shore slut drop…disappointing.

A good 24 hrs was topped off with an Eggs Benedict breakfast, a couple of mugs of Earl Grey and a little tour around the best stores in Newcastle before heading back down South. The hospitality was second to none and if you’re ever up in Newcastle then you should definitely make Capology one of your essential stops, before you head out to party Geordie Shore style.
