Dubai is well known for its ex-pats, oil money, hedonistic lifestyle and of course luxury, high fashion, but underneath all of this is a growing core streetwear scene to rival those of the major streetwear capitals of London, NYC and Tokyo. Streetwear in Dubai is legit.
KING has always had a strong presence on the ground in Dubai - from working in the early days with the likes of Namshi, NARL DXB and The Zoo, and despite a high turnover of stores coming and going, we recently partnered with the emerging RAGE outfit of skate and streetwear stores.
The newest RAGE store can be found in Nakheel Mall, Palm Jumeirah - with a super clean and slick build out, this is tier one retailing for the movement. With all the major skate hardware brands locked in as well as exclusive rights on the likes of Rip’n’Dip and latest items from the new KING collection, the RAGE boys have got pretty much all bases covered.
Alongside RAGE are the likes of The Social Foot - a relatively new sneaker store experience, bringing rare silhouettes and grails to the local population and of course the growth of SOLE DXB - Dubai’s sneaker, streetwear and music festival that is growing in popularity year on year.
As streetwear grows in the region, the combination of people finding their unique styles and incorporating these into local heritage and traditions promises to lead to a whole different style emerging and one that we are proud to be part of.
