Twenty years in any industry is a long time, but in fashion it's a genuine milestone.
Over such a period, trends, tastes and looks change more often than the acceptable width of a pair of jeans. You've also got to factor in a constantly evolving retail landscape, as well as brands exploding onto the scene only to disappear just as quickly. As such, longevity in fashion has become rarer than a Yak Face Star Wars figure, complete with sealed backing card (currently going for £4,500 on eBay for anyone interested).
Hence having reached the twenty year milestone (complete with all the successes, failures, trials and tribulations), we decided to call up all the people that have been involved with our journey and mark the occasion by throwing a massive party.
And so it was that on the 16th November 2023, in conjunction with Complex Minds agency, the KING 20-Year Anniversary Party went down, The night brought together forefathers and founding members of the scene we all know today, major music artists and DJs past and present, in addition to movers and shakers in the world of streetwear retail and styling, and up-and-coming talent ready to blow the culture apart.
Those in attendance were treated to sick live PAs (Henshaw murked), DJ sets from the likes of Plastician and DJ Mel, as well as previews of statement pieces from future KING collections. Most importantly, free booze was on hand, courtesy of the boys at XIX Vodka and Darkside Rum Punch.
To have made the twenty year mark and fill a room with some of the most talented people we’ve had the pleasure of crossing paths with over the lifespan of the brand, is a truly humbling experience. We're eternally grateful for all those that came out and shared in marking the milestone. With a heritage and cultural foundation that's unique to the scene, the KING journey is one of evolution and a constant work in progress. Having reached this milestone, the brand is on the cusp of delivering it's best output yet...
