Camden based Grime MC The Real PK aka ‘Bad Ombre’ has been shelling on the scene since way back in 2016 as a raw member of the North West London trio ‘YGG’, and over the past couple of years has firmly established himself as one of the most authentic independent artists in the scene.
As a coveted member of the KING affiliate team we linked with PK to showcase some of our most recent work, new collection and to shine the light on PK’s journey through the music scene.
Set in the heart of Camden town, our shoot took us throughout PK’s manor, from his estate, through local spots to his favourite corner shop - presenting an insight into the individual as well as the artist.
From being introduced to music at a young age, PK moved from a young schoolboy putting out playground rhymes for fun to a more conscious consumer of music that gravitated towards the Grime scene.
‘I’ve always been an energetic person since I was young, so there’s something about Grime and me that fitted well - my brothers and cousins would play grime back in those days plus it was more of the UK sound back then - all you was hearing was grime, all you was seeing was grime, it literally became a lifestyle from the way we talk, to the way we dress.’
Growing up in Camden, set multiple challenges for a young man pushing for a break through into the music industry and its testament to PK’s authenticity and dedication, that he now occupies the space he does - a clear representation of how hard work pays off.
‘As young kid growing up in Camden, you go through challenging times, you learn things from the streets that you apply to music. It helps you grow and I feel like me being from my area has created the man who you see today and I put 100% real authentication of that into my music.’
Best known for his storytelling through Grime. PK’s focus is on making music for his audience, rather than the industry…
‘I think I liked it more because it was raw from the streets and didn’t have a cap...you could literally talk about anything on grime and it had its own unique twist to it.
A regular at the infamous Grime originals raves and with events now back in full swing, you’ll be able to catch PK at numerous events and showcases, and with new material constantly being put out, its only a matter of time before PK is a name that resonates alongside the biggest of Grime’s legends.
‘I’m always working on new material whether I’m writing or just living day to day life - these are my inspirations in life - I’ve got a few projects and singles I’ve been working on that I can’t wait for everyone to hear I’m ready to take on the world and win - so get use to this face and shades.’
